Modern day femme fatale.....OR...... Classic femme fatale?????!!!
im very much on the side of classic! but then from a designer point of view, it should be modern or cutting edge|!!! i need to find a way to incorporate the two together!!!

femme fatales!
I have started looking into film noir, and from the off loved what i discovered! being a big fan of burlesque style and women, the film noir femme fatales bring together all the emlements i love....power, sexuality and strength in a mixture with femininity!
I first looked into Film noir as a whole and there found the femme fatales and now im following along this path, looking into this further, so i went to find some secondary research and came across a wonderful magazine i had never known about! LOVE. In my opinion edgier and quirkier than Vogue, LOVE looks at the more shall we say 'over the top' fashion, truly unique and the style of photographic shoots i found in this mag are, some what edgier, obviously still containing the main bigger brands, gucci, valentino on and on.... there just seemed to be a darker edge and feel to this magazine, that really inspired and captured my eye! It gfave me great ideas to continue on with my femme fatale ideas!
This image from Gucci A/W '11, in my opinion captures many elements of the film noir femme fatales-sex, power, femininity, but uses colour....not present in film noir! which then gives me ideas, that for a modern day take on film noir! does it have to be black?
Being a lover of classic styles/shapes, i need to find a way to bring the film noir femme fatales into 2011, looking at the editorial fashion soots from this magazine, i have already gathered much inspiration on how i may do this, but being true to myself i want to keep a key element of the past in my own work, so will reference the film noir sirens of the past!

Sexy not Slutty!
I am a big fan of BURLESQUE and two women i really admire and love the glamour and femininity they exude are Immodesty Blaize and Dita Von Teese.
I love the Vintage style of sheer glamour and power these women have. Their outfits are always so beautiful and sexy, but not in a seedy way, just great throw backs to a past glamorous era!

A flick of the page
I love this dress! Hazily flicking the pages of the Vogue A/W 2011 Runway Round up, i came across this beauty in the "Forties Glamour" trend alert, with designers Gucci, John Galliano and the creator of this dress Ralph Lauren (amongst others) taking a look back to the glam of the past, lowering hemlines and adding a great old school bit of feminine, sophisticated galmour to this trend. This dress really caught me eye...it did remind me however of that stunner that kiera Knightly wore in Atonement. The beautiful rich green and flowing silhouette, a simple dress in my mind that just hangs on the body gracefully and elegantly!!
my very first blog :)
Im Annabel Wright, im 22 and studying a Fashion Design Degree!
This blog will include what my title states..."Thinking out loud", from what inspires me just around in day to day life, or may catch my eye...to things ive read about and want to comment on or that provoked a thought in my mind!
Its all just my opinions and thoughts, that flutter round in my head, so, some of it may sound like utter jibberish and hopefully some may have some reasoning behind it to sound like i actually have a clue!....the proof is in the pudding :)
